The Stockton San Joaquin Lions Club expressed heartfelt thanks to Zone Chair Kirk and Global Membership Team Chair Phil from the 4-A1 Cabinet and San Joaquin Region for attending their “Bags for Benches, Round 7” Inclusive Playground Ribbon-Cutting & Bench Dedication Ceremony on July 23. ZC Kirk brought sound equipment and his Canine Companion-in-Training – and accepted recognition on behalf of District 4-A1 as one of 27 Plastic Partners in the project. […] Stockton-San Joaquin Lions also expressed gratitude to Tokay High School Leo Club President Meredith Garcia and Stockton Delta Pacifica Lions Club Vice President Eileen Guadagnolo for braving the heat by attending the ceremony and receiving the Plastic Partner recognition for contributing a minimum of 10 pounds of plastic to Stockton San Joaquin’s project. Atwater-Winton, Lodi, Merced Golden, Stockton Host, Tri-Dams, and West Point Lions Clubs were also recognized as partners that evening, but could not attend. Great job Lions, together – “We Serve!”

In the “Bags for Benches” project, a club recycles soft plastics through a partnering area store within a specified six-month-period to earn a free composite bench made of plastic, mixed with wood, from the Trex company. We solicit suggestions from the community of where they would like to see a bench and place them in special spots in the community; some are even commemorated as memorial dedications.
