LATEST NEWS BULLETINS

LA Fire Relief and Recovery Effort – “Be prepared and wait” is the main theme. The affected area has enough food and clothing. The three affected districts are still conducting regular Lions activities. Lions Leaders are organizing the unified Command Center. (More info will come.) Past International Director Bob Lee from Hawaii, who will be the special guest at our upcoming District Convention, shared his experience of the Lahaina Fire. When Red Cross, FEMA, and other organizations leave, Lions are still there to serve the local recovery effort. I understand adrenaline is high, and some of us are also anxious and have mixed feelings. Please understand that Lions are working on it. The best thing to do is to donate to Lions Clubs International Foundation, California Lions Foundation/Wildfires, and Lions District 4-A1 Disaster Relief Inc. EIN: 61-1864195. [See address below] Indicate it’s for “Southern California Fires”.
The Command Center is composed of Second Vice District Governors and individual District Disaster Chairs. Regardless, the district teams are working together.
I ask for your patience and I can’t emphasize the need for a long-term recovery effort. Be prepared and wait. More information will come soon.

* With LCIF (Lions Club International Foundation), our district received $20,000 Disaster Preparedness Grant ($5,000 match from our district) to replenish the Disaster Trailer and setup the emergency supplies and storage at West Point.
* Lions District 4-A1 Disaster Relief Inc. has a full board of directors and are working on and in the disaster trailer, Southern California Fire Disaster Relief, and other tasks. Information will be sent to club via the club’s invoice.
Since separate components are working together on Disaster Preparation and Disaster Relief, different donations will go to distinct places. To avoid confusion, please specify on the memo on your or your club’s check. Make checks payable to “Lions District 4-A1” and send them to PO BOX 4343, Modesto, CA 95352. Please put “Disaster Preparedness Grant Match” or “Disaster Relief” in the memo section.
